In today’s smart mobility era, with the rise of eco-friendly travel and increasing consumer expectations, shared scooters powered by advanced technology and precise positioning systems are becoming a global trend.

The key to enabling smart travel with shared scooters lies in integrating highly intelligent IoT technology.

By connecting the scooter's controller via IoT, real-time monitoring is achieved, allowing seamless operation for shared and rental programs.

This ensures a smooth and reliable experience for users when accessing, riding, and returning scooters.

The Ratel IoT module designed for scooters connects seamlessly with the scooter's Electronic Control Unit (ECU), enabling features like vehicle connectivity, remote management, real-time tracking, and 4G Cat.1 network capabilities.

This smart device, crafted for urban mobility solutions, comes equipped with a high-precision positioning chip that offers strong interference resistance, minimal latency, and high accuracy, enhancing the experience of renting and returning scooters.

Optimized Return Process

Additionally, the IoT module supports a range of smart parking features.

With AI-powered visual recognition and high-precision cameras, it accurately monitors the scooter’s return process.

When a ride concludes, the camera automatically scans the environment to verify if the scooter is parked correctly within the designated station and aligned properly with the street.

The device also integrates parking beacons and RFID technology to ensure consistent, accurate parking.

Combined with virtual geo-fencing and precise positioning, these features allow operators to optimize fleet management and streamline maintenance.

Remote Access

Users can manage the scooter remotely via the dedicated app.

When they need a scooter, they can book it ahead of time using the app.

Once the reservation is confirmed, the app will guide users to the scooter through a recommended route.

Speed Control

To prevent overspeeding, operators can impose speed restrictions through the backend system.

If a user gets close to the maximum speed limit, the scooter will issue a voice alert, prompting the rider to reduce speed.

This feature ensures users stay within a safe speed range, significantly lowering the chances of speed-related accidents.

Theft Prevention

The IoT system on the scooter also includes anti-theft measures.

If someone attempts to tamper with or move the scooter while it's locked, an alarm will sound. Simultaneously, the backend server will receive an alert, enabling operators to take action.

Additionally, WiFi positioning helps track the scooter's location in areas where GPS signals are weak, such as basements, reducing the likelihood of theft.

The intelligent Battery Management System (BMS) tracks battery performance in real-time, allowing users to monitor battery health, check current charge levels, and estimate the remaining travel distance through the electric scooter’s app.

This feature helps prevent low battery issues and enables operators to efficiently swap out batteries as needed.

The BMS also safeguards the battery by preventing overheating, overcharging, and excessive discharge, extending its lifespan and ensuring safe charging.

Shared scooters, like Ratel, are set to revolutionize micro-mobility by powering the next wave of urban transportation.
